Defending champions Mumbai Indians had clinched their fourth title with a narrow one-run victory over the Chennai Super Kings in 2019.
IPL 2020 will be played over a two-month period, with the final likely to be played on November 10, 2020.
Pushed forward from its usual April-May calendar due to the COVID-19 pandemic, IPL 2020 had been confirmed to take place in the UAE due to similar concerns.
The Indian Premier League’s schedule is spread across three cities in the UAE – Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah.
The IPL has only been held once outside India – the 2009 edition in South Africa – though it had visited the UAE shores for the first half of the 2014 season.
